On the evening of 2 December 1943, IX Squadron Lancaster DV 334 WS-C took off from Bardney as part of a large raid to bomb BERLIN.
The crew were:
Pilot Officer Warwick
The aircraft could not land back at Bardney, so diverted to Gamston, but could not land there either and it is thought the crew were attempting to land at Ossington, when it crashed at nearby Milton.
Sgt Rickard and FS Owen were injured, the rest were killed.
A group of Notts aviation enthusiasts will mark this occasion from 1100 hrs on Sunday 19 May 2013, at Milton Mausoleum, (NG22 0PJ), (SK 715 730) with a BBMF Lancaster display.
The Flight Engineer was Sgt Bob Davison and his neice Audrey Stoker from Newcastle is hoping to attend.
